The most valuable resource available

Time is so incredibly precious to us all. Much research has been done into how time really works. Many novels have been written about time travel. Most of us have wished for more time. I myself would pay a lot of money to acquire more time during the day to perform all of my tasks for my business which I love working in. The more time we dedicate to our business the better it will become.

I believe am the best person at my business. I can keep my books, and manage my tax, create and design spectacular websites. I am great at SEO. I know how to do the gardening, do the cleaning, do DIY and all of the property management tasks that every household needs to think about. I believe I am better than all of my employees and all of my associates at the task they are doing. Although it turns out when all of these come together at once I am not very good at all.

Being able to delegate all of the tasks I need completing is a very important task that many of us struggle to achieve. I know that when I dedicate myself to something I am the best. This is something I believe other small business owners struggle with. If we did not desire control over our businesses then we would not have ventured into the small business world.

We need to remember that it is incredibly inefficient to do everything ourselves. What is important is that the people I delegate to do that particular job all the time. They practice and refine it. This makes my accountant better at the job than me. Even though I know if I dedicated myself to that job I would be the best (after a long time training!).

In summary, I need to delegate my roles to people I trust, even though I know I would do them best. I think this is something all businesses need to remember to do. This has never been more true of managing your website, social media and online marketing which not take up so much time for everyone.
